Where did 2016 go? We are now into November with the holiday season beginning it’s full swing; I love this time of year, so look forward to all the fuss and rat race of shopping, cooking, and gift giving.
We had a nice crowd that attended the October meeting. Edwin Carbrera, a Florida Hospital executive chef, demonstrated Heart Healthy Cooking; we got to sample two dishes: farro with cremini mushrooms and kale with lite Greek salad and finally, to finish off the meal was medjool dates stuffed with pecans or walnuts. Such a lovely evening with those that was able to attend as well as our new attendees.
Our November meeting will be another educational evening with Maria Carolina Demori, MD, with Orlando Health Heart Cardiology Practice to speak about advanced heart failure. This month’s meeting will be November 15th at Orlando Health Heart Institute. Parking is adjacent to the building in the parking garage and is free.
The month of December is our annual holiday party, in lieu of a general meeting, which is scheduled for December 11th at Deer Run Country Club in Casselberry. As usual, we will have a social hour starting at 4:30pm with dinner following at 5:30pm. The cost to attend is $20 per person and we will be having a White Elephant giveaway, so bring a small gift, worth no more than $10 to partake in the exchange. This is always a fun evening and I look forward to this gathering every year, as it is always a great time to meet caregivers that do not regularly attend the meetings.
I hope to see you all November 15th for our next meeting, but if I don’t, please have a safe, plentiful, and especially a healthy Happy Thanksgiving.
